Welcome to the blog of the Astronomy Club at IISER Mohali. We're a group of undergraduate and graduate students interested in Astronomy at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Mohali.
(The club was founded in 2011 and has been involved ever since in promoting activities related to amateur Astronomy and Astrophysics.)
This blog will be dedicated to sharing interesting ideas/ facts in Astronomy, covering the events organized by the Club and imparting practical tips related to amateur Astronomy.
We'll also have a page dedicated to the 'Question of the Week'.
Every *Sunday* a question will be posted on this page and the winners will *receive a special mention on our blog*. *At the end of the semester, prizes will be awarded to those with the maximum correct answers.*

Venus, and not Mercury is the hottest planet.
Even though Mercury is the planet closest to the Sun, absence of an atmosphere makes absorption of heat difficult, as compared to Venus, which has a thick atmosphere, hence facilitating absorption of heat.
